Old Holts Golf Society
THANK YOU

On Sunday 02/04/17 I had the pleasure of watching a brave group of volunteers jump from a plane for a very worth while cause. The picture is proof that our very own Mr Lowe held his nerve and completed the jump along with his Mrs, Elise Bold.
Rob has asked me to give their heart felt thanks to all our society members who put their hands in their pockets and donated to the charity. The event raised over £10,000 with further donations still coming in.To put this into some perspective the money raised will fund a full 12 week course for the Focus Liverpool Group.
A BIG WELL DONE TO ROBBIE AND ELISE
Focus Autism Club Parachute Jump

Please help raise vital funds for Focus Liverpool - A Saturday Club for Children with Autism
Who are they?
In January 2015, Elise Bold and two other mums of children with autism in Liverpool established Focus Liverpool, a Saturday club where autistic children can learn essential communication and play skills in a fun, relaxed environment.
Parents and carers can also gain training, impartial advice and support to start their home intervention, whilst their children receive a 12-week taster into behaviour analysis and also offers parents a cost-effective introduction.
Volunteers have to opportunity to learn more about autism with training and support around the principles of ABA.
How they will raise funds?
Volunteers including are very own Rob Lowe are going to raise funds by jumping out of a plane. The other brave volunteers are: Elise Lowe, Ian Saddington, Darol O'Kane, Emily Nicholas, Daniel Johnson, Becca Allam, Natalie Evans, Mostafa Allam, Kim Murdoch,Gary Range, Jennifer Smale, Richard Scott & Neil Davies. They will be parachuting for Focus Liverpool on Autism Awareness Day, 2nd April 2017.
The monies raised will be used to fund their March intake which includes rent, toys and training.
Help spread the word!

Despite the season ending in October 16 there has still been no decision made on who is the 2016 Old Holts Society champion. All thought it was a forgone conclusion that Frank 'Boom Boom' Kehoe only had to show up to be named the Champ, but Ray 'Air Shots Don't Count' Tenno had other ideas, slipping in with a 5th place finish at Pwllheli to tie the proceedings at 25 points each. This has left the Society in a bit of a quandary over who should be crowned this years champion. Opinions are split with some members thinking it should go to Frank as he has won three society events, with others saying it should be Tenno as he has attended all 6 society days. A further suggestion is for the individual with the best score at the first society day, that they both attend, should be presented with the trophy. If anyone has any better suggestions on how the winner should be decided then send them to Steve Taylor either by text or email.
dreams come true

The picture is of 20 year old Tom who is receiving treatment for a serious condition called Ewings sarcoma. Tom is Andy Tremarco's eldest daughters boyfriend whose dream would be to see the final stage of the Tour De France in 2017.
Tom would like to see the final stage of the Tour DE France cycle race and the victory parade.
Tom and his family go on cycling holidays each year to France and he has always had a dream to attend the Tour De France.
A keen cyclist, Tom bought a new bike just prior to his diagnosis of having Ewings sarcoma, a rare disease in which cancer cells are found in the bone or in the soft tissue. He has not been well enough physically to ride it since. Tom has had extensive chemo and surgery (4 ribs and half a lung removed) and now requires further treatment.
He needs something to look forward to and to attend this race would be a Dream Come True.
So come on lads follow the below link and dig deep and lets make Tom's dream become reality. This is a great charity that works hard to enrich the lives of children and young people with life limiting conditions. Granting a dream can help a child or young person to think beyond their illness or disability and focus on something highly positive and empowering.

Do Not Purchase the Sports Direct Dunlop Golfing Brolly.
May 28th 2015
Mr Bold from Childwall arrived for his game of golf proudly displaying his newly purchased Dunlop Golfing Brolly. He highlighted the quality of his buy to his fellow golfers and he was that impressed he actually bought two. Unfortunately Tony was left wet and disgruntled after the said brolly could not cope with the British elements resulting in a soaking. Tony was that disappointed with the product that he contacted BBC's Watchdog to air is dissatisfaction. Watch Dog subsequently contacted Sports Direct airing Mr Bold's complaint, a spokesperson for the company made the following statement, 'The brollies are at the entrance of our stores to catch the eye of the every day shoppers who get caught in a downpour at 2 for £6.00 we never envisaged anyone using them for golf.’

Parents Start Their Own Saturday Club For Their Autistic Children
March 30th 2015
Yesterday was Autism Awareness Day which is something very close to a number of our Society members hearts. A group of parents have started their own club for their autistic children.
Focus Liverpool was set by parents Elise Lowe, Hayley Hammond and Claire Foster to provide training for volunteer therapists interested in behavioural therapy and to teach valuable social and academic skills.
The therapy being used is Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) were children's behaviour is observed and therapists identify desirable changes in that behaviour and using the most appropriate methods to make those changes.
Focus Liverpool charge £150 for a 12 week course but the children receive £500 of treatment plus data and reports about their children. The group are desperate to raise funds so parents can receive the treatment for free in the future.
If you would like to make a donation please visit the attached link http://dm.gofund.me/abaliverpool and thanks for all your support.
